Video chat proficiency is valuable skill to have in the current job market. As many companies are evolving into remote or partial on-site schedules for their employees, the ability to effectively communicate via video chat is paramount to value adding success in the role. During the pandemic, the majority of our interviewing and subsequent candidate hires were faciltated through video chat so the evaluatiion for this skill began during the interviewing process. The adaptation to the new way of communicating was established during the pandemic but in many organizations, it is a method that is here to stay. 
 

A new survey by ResumeBuilder.com reveals video chat proficiency is the most valued skill according to hiring managers who say the pandemic affected the skills they’re targeting.  They surveyed 1,250 hiring managers across multiple industries to identify the most valued remote-work skills and how organizations plan to attract and retain workers. 

Additional findings include:

  • Half of hiring managers say the pandemic has affected which skills they are seeking
  • Video chat proficiency and adaptability are the most valued skills
  • Organizations are expanding staff by 20%
